Mountain Chickens
Mountain Chickens are our most expensive birds, selling for RM 35 each.  The higher price is because they lay about 7 eggs each time and then stop for about a month.  They take about 9 months to grow to table size, and this is the other major reason for the higher price. Mature birds weigh about 1.4kg.

The mountain chicken is not the Red Jungle Fowl, which is protected.  Visit this site to see the clear difference between the two birds:
www.junglefowl.org.

The mountain chicken is likely a cross between the Red Jungle Fowl and feral ayam kampung and is found in secondary forests and oil palm estates.  They have a fleshy carcass and the meat is fragrant.  The mountain chickens we sell are farm-raised.
